FWEAP representatives attended the meeting hosted by the NPO "Cambodia Support Center"

 

Mr. JUN-ICHI KAWAUE, newly appointed Deputy Director-General of FWEAP and others from the Foundation attended the meeting hosted by the Cambodia Support Center in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, on May 22, 2022.

The Cambodia Support Center is a community organization newly formed by a joint effort of 10 different Cambodian community organizations which expand activities in various parts of Japan. The organization is said to be planning to organize some activities such as Cambodian-style Buddhist ceremonies, inheritance of Cambodian traditional culture, learning of Khmer Language, life consultation among Cambodian communities and so on.  Many leaders of Cambodian Communities from Kanagawa, Gunma, and Tochigi prefectures attended the meeting.

In addition, H.E. Mr. TUY LY, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cambodia to Japan, who has already submitted the letter of credential to the Emperor of Japan on March 10, also attended the meeting. Mr. Tuy Ly made a speech explaining on recent Cambodian economic growth and COVID-19 situation in the country. Following him, Mr. Kawaue, representing FWEAP, mentioned several activities made by FWEAP for settled refugees such as Emergency Food Assistance, Discussion Meeting among refugee community representatives and so on.

FWEAP will continue to cooperate in various activities so that the refugee community can play an active role in Japanese society.
