The Foundation for the Welfare and Education of the Asian People (FWEAP) plans to hold a presentation contest in Japanese in order to deepen friendships with settled refugee community members and to support exchanges between Japanese society and young refugees.

The presentation contest is a competition in a new form of expression that combines a traditional Japanese speech contest with computer images, videos, and music. Teams of three to four people take charge of preparing presentation materials using applications such as PowerPoint for a given theme. In the contest, one person serves as a presenter and gives a presentation in front of computer images projected on a large screen. To determine the winners, the judges evaluate the message conveyed, the presentation content, expressional power, accuracy of the presenter's Japanese, and other aspects.

It can be freely presented on the theme of "Japan and Us," including what they feel about Japan and the Japanese people in their daily lives, differences between their home countries and Japan, and the Japanese economy's future potential. Please check the application guidelines for details.

The first presentation contest was scheduled on October 3, 2021, at JICA Tokyo Center in Nishihara, Shibuya-ku. However, it was postponed to be held between January and March 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The specific date and time will be announced as soon as it is decided.

On the day of the contest, we as the organizer will implement the maximum measures to prevent COVID-19 infections; as a result, depending on the circumstances, we may restrict admission of the public. We appreciate your understanding.
